A wonderful insight into the lives of our senior dogs at Frankie and Andy's Place presented by Welcome Home Doggie
It is estimated that 60% of dogs will die of cancer, and many of the senior dogs that come to live out their days at the beautiful Frankie and Andy's Place cabins in the woods are taken in because their families have dumped them just as soon as they receive a cancer diagnosis. They think 'chemo, radiation therapy, drugs, sadness, lots of expense', and instead of committing to the dog they brought into their family, they just walk away. A double whammy of deceit and misery for the dog right at a time when they need help the most, and the shelters are full of such cast-aside souls. At Frankie and Andy's Place, we know we cannot cure cancer, but we have a fervent belief in a very different approach to it than most. Instead of attacking the immune system by injecting toxic substances so strong that you have to wear industrial gloves to handle them, or blasting the dogs with radiation that can make dogs feel pretty sick, we do something wildly different... We believe in making the dog so comfortable and happy that yes, they WANT to live long enough to tick off all the items on their bucket list. We believe in a carefully prepared anti-cancer diet that fills the body with immune-boosting ingredients but tastes delicious. We believe that the cure cannot feel, or be, worse than the disease and so we only use gentle holistic treatments that will not have horrific side effects.
